Kesha is back, making her return with a beautiful and emotional track, titled “True Colors.” This collaboration with Zedd is the first music released by Kesha since her 2013 hit off Pitbull’s album, “Timber.”
Kesha teased fans with clips from her upcoming video — showing off a stunning smile as she runs through rose bushes in a sequin leotard. The imagery alone is a powerful statement, showing Kesha triumphantly happy despite her recent battles. Soon after, the entire audio was dropped for fans to enjoy.
“This is more than a song. It’s a declaration of my truth.”
The song is a redo of Zedd’s 2015 single, off album of the same name. The track keeps lyrics from the original (which features lead vocals from Tim James). Though it is undeniable that Kesha makes this track her own with her bold, beautiful, hard-hitting vocals. It is almost impossible not to consider all that Kesha has been through while listening to this song. The weight of it leaves us with goosebumps. This is the first time Kesha’s voice is heard in over three years and the lyrics could not be more fitting for this strong woman who we hope to continue to hear new music from.
“I’m not afraid / All my life, one page at a time / I’ll show you mine, my true colors / No I won’t apologize for the fire in my eyes / Let me show you my true colors / It ain’t your rainbow.”
