Hailing from Los Angeles, 20-year-old singer and songwriter Caity Krone releases her debut single Record About You. Influenced by Stevie Nicks and Joni Mitchell, the track features a modern folk-pop sound that “blends sounds of the past with the voice of the future.”
We recently chatted with Caity about where she found her inspiration, what’s in store for the remainder of 2017 and how she would best sum up her music to someone who hasn’t yet been introduced. Check out what she had to say below:
Who or what inspired you to pursue music?I’ve always loved to sing. When I heard Ed Sheeran’s + record and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album when I was fifteen, I decided to start writing. How would you describe your music to someone without naming a genre?Dancing in a studio apartment with people you love with lots of wine and chocolate and mood lighting. What music / artists are you currently listening to?Currently, I’m listening to Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles, because I’m always listening to them. But I’m also listening to Harry Styles, Phoebe Bridgers, Minnie Ripperton, The Beach Boys, MUNA, and the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack.Do you have any goals for the remainder of the year?Putting this album out was a big one. I balance three jobs and school to pay for recording my music and to finally say: here’s something I put my heart and soul into and am ready to officially share with the world, was important to me. I’d love to finish recording at least two more songs before the year’s out. Ones I’m really proud of.
